I spent much of my early life growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. At the age of 18 my parents and I moved to the small town of Olney, Illinois in rural Southern Illinois. It was here that I would meet the young woman who later became my wife, and we have now been married for over thirty years. We have three grown adult children who are starting and raising families of their own.
In May 1993, I felt God's call to the ministry. My family and I moved to Southeastern Kentucky where I attended Clear Creek Baptist Bible College earning a BA in Ministry. Shortly after graduating from there, we would return to our home in southern Illinois. I would eventually start the Master's program at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling.
As a pastor for over thirty years now, I have had the opportunity to minister to people and families in some very difficult seasons of their lives. In the last three years, I have begun to work as a biblical counselor in a more formal setting. This has allowed me the ability to come alongside other pastors and help them as they seek to faithfully counsel their own members, and as the need arises, they may refer individuals to me. One of the things I enjoy about being a biblical counselor is walking with individuals and couples through the circumstances they come to me with, and watching God work in their lives in wonderful ways.
Along with having a Master's in Biblical Counseling, I served for 21 years as a member of the Olney Fire Department, and now currently serve as one of the chaplains for the Olney Fire Department. I am also a proud member of the Biblical Counseling Coalition.
Over the years, I have worked with people dealing with things such as depression, various forms of abuse, marital issues, trauma, grief, PTSD, anger, among other things.
